About Me

My scientific work is dedicated to thermal conditions of the shallow subsurface. With my research I try to answer questions like: Does climate change pose a threat on our groundwater resources? How do local anthropogenic heat emissions accumulate to large-scale subsurface urban heat islands? And can we recycle this waste heat to reduce stress on natural ecosystems and reduce carbon emissions? By connecting numerical models, field measurements and remote sensing I try to dig up answers from the un- and often overseen ecosystem below our feet.
