The GeoTHERM expo & congress occurred in Offenburg from February 19 to 21. There, Peter, Maximilian, and Christoph gained an impression of the latest innovations in the field of geothermal energy. Furthermore, the congress offered the opportunity to exchange ideas with companies, researchers, and speakers of several lectures in the research fields of shallow and deep geothermal energy.
Moreover, a public workshop was organized by our working group as a side event on 19 February 2025 by the joint project SpeicherCity.
During this event, research results from the SpeicherCity project were presented, current barriers to ATES technology in Germany were highlighted, and potential solutions to these were discussed. Focus was laid on ATES potentials and costs as well as perspectives for the integration of ATES into modern energy systems. The panel of experts was expanded by presentations from three invited keynote speakers, while moderated discussion sessions complemented the program. We thank all participants for the inspiring and positive exchange!
